It's always interesting writing about an issue right in your own backyard. I recently finished a story for Powder.com about a proposed development at Squaw Valley, which has been in the works for years and recently received approval from the county to push forward.
The development—which would drastically expand the base village and its lodging—is hotly opposed by a vocal segment of the Tahoe community for its size and scope. But that didn't stop county officials from voting to push the project along.
But what happens now? Will construction begin? Or will the lawsuit being brought forth by a local environmental group actually manage to put the project on hold? I spoke to Squaw CEO Andy Wirth and those opposed to the development to find out the next steps in the process. You can read the piece here.
