I've dated guys who weren't skiers (OK, fine, it was just once and it didn't work out) and I'm not saying you and your partner both have to love skiing equally to make the relationship work. But when you are on the same page—you both love a good storm day, you'll always choose a mountain vacation over the beach, and your shared idea of a good time is hiking to a peak in the middle of nowhere and eating cheese and salami while starring at snow-drenched mountains—then, man, does it make the relationships easy, passionate, and fun.
I wrote about this idea for a story for Outside Online called 8 Things Skiing Together Can Teach Us About Love. It follows me and my husband, Dan (who's even more obsessed with skiing than I am) on a recent ski trip to Snowbird, Utah.
