Meet the 16-Year-Old Stealing the Spotlight in Warren Miller’s “75” Film

To understand how a kid like LJ Henriquez, who hails from Brooklyn and New Jersey with proud Dominican roots, became one of the brightest young snowboarders on the scene, you have to know that it took a village to get him there. His parents, Pamela and Lenim Henriquez, weren’t snowboarders and didn’t know much about the sport. But a network of mentors, organizations, fellow athletes, brands, and families stepped up to help Henriquez follow his dreams.

In “75,” we watch as a crew of mentors supports Henriquez on the next chapter of his young career. Sports commentator and snowboarding legend Selema Masekela came up with the idea for this film segment, where he, Henriquez, and snowboarding phenom and X Games champion Zeb Powell take a trip to the powder fields of Hokkaido, Japan. It was Henriquez’s first time in Japan and his first time riding in the backcountry.
